This course provides nurse vaccinators, pharmacist vaccinators, and other authorised vaccinators with the essential resuscitation knowledge and practical skills required to respond effectively to medical emergencies in vaccination, community, and healthcare settings. The course is aligned with the New Zealand Immunisation Handbook and reflects nationally recognised vaccinator resuscitation content delivered by the Immunisation Advisory Centre (IMAC).

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply Basic Life Support (BLS) principles relevant to vaccination settings
  • Demonstrate effective CPR techniques for adults, children, and infants
  • Safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Recognise and respond to anaphylaxis, including adrenaline administration
  • Manage choking and airway obstruction
  • Apply oxygen therapy and basic airway management
  • Prepare and check emergency equipment for readiness
  • Work effectively as part of a team‑based emergency response

Certification
