Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Apply the Basic Life Support algorithm (DRSABCD)
• Assess an unresponsive person
• Open and maintain an airway
• Recognise absent or abnormal breathing
• Perform effective adult CPR following ANZCOR standards
• Use an AED safely and confidently
• Respond to adult and child choking emergencies
• Work effectively as part of a resuscitation team

This course is suitable for anyone who may need to respond to a collapse or medical emergency, including:

• Non‑vaccinating nurses and nurses in non‑acute settings (aged care, community, outpatient)
• Healthcare assistants, support workers, and community carers
• Phlebotomists, radiography staff, and other clinical support roles
• Non‑vaccinating pharmacists
• Teachers and youth workers
• Fitness, recreation, and sports facility staff
• Workplace teams wanting essential CPR, AED, and choking‑response skills
• Community members and lay responders

Participants receive a Jumpstart First Aid Basic Life Support Certificate of Completion, valid for 2 years.
